DrJennie Parnham

Jennie is a public health nutritionist working within the Public Health Policy Evaluation Unit. Her research focuses on policy evaluation, nutrition welfare, school food policies, ultra-processed food, and health inequalities. She is committed to using robust data-driven methods to improve public health outcomes through evidence-based interventions.

She was recently awarded a Post-Doctoral Launching Fellowship by the NIHR School for Public Health Research. In addition, she has received an early-career research grant to lead a quantitative evaluation of food provision across the school day, with a particular focus on Breakfast Clubs.

Previously, Jennie contributed to a grant funded by Cancer Research UK, investigating e-cigarette use among adolescents in the UK. She completed her NIHR School for Public Health Research-funded PhD at Imperial College London in 2022. This doctoral research employed natural experiment methodology using routinely collected data to evaluate the impact of the Healthy Start and Universal Infant Free School Meal programmes on purchasing behaviors, dietary patterns, and health outcomes.

Jennie has been involved in a range of teaching within the School for Public Health. She is currently co-module lead for the Nutritional Epidemiology module (MPH/MSc) and teaches on the Global Health course (BSc).
