BIO
Jazmin Morrone is a Research Associate in the Department of Earth Science and Engineering at Imperial College London, as part of the Transmission and Reflection UltraSound Tomography (TRUST) research team. Her work contributes to the development of new non-invasive brain interfaces — integrating ultrasound, electrical, and computational techniques to map and modulate neural activity with high precision.
Her research broadly focuses on the use of multimodal techniques, including neuroimaging, neuromodulation, and other advanced technologies, to detect and monitor neuronal markers associated with various environmental and neurocognitive states. Using tools such as electroencephalography (EEG), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and virtual reality (VR), her work seeks to translate these insights into strategies that optimize human performance, bridging laboratory research with real-world applications.
Jazmin’s academic interests sit at the intersection of applied physics, neuroscience, and computer science. She is particularly interested in how the fundamentals of physics can be applied to biological and neurocognitive systems—through approaches such as quantum-based methods, biophysical modeling, and computational simulation—to advance understanding and, in turn, enable modulation of brain function.
Beyond her scientific work, Jazmin engages in artistic expression—such as creating hyper-realistic artwork, dance, and other creative forms—integrating these pursuits with her research to communicate complex scientific concepts in innovative and engaging ways through visual and physical media. Her art, much like her research, explores precision, structure, and the elegance of complex systems, serving as a bridge between analytical rigor and creative expression. The convergence of these perspectives continues to inform and inspire all aspects of her work.
