BIO
Jon Gorecki is an optical physicist at Imperial College London.
Jon studied for his PhD at the Optoelectronics Research Centre in the University of Southampton under the supervision of Nikitas Papasimakis, investigating the use of photo-responsive substrates to optically control the the electronic properties of 2D materials such as graphene. Following this, he undertook a research fellow position alongside Vasilli Fedotov to investigate plasmonic effects at visible-wavelengths in nano-structured films.
Subsequently, Jon has pivoted research towards bioengineering; utilising his knowledge of optics to design and construct novel imaging systems to investigate biological processes. At Imperial College he is working within the group of Chris Rowlands to investigate the use of Diffuse Optical Tomogoraphy for the monitoring of bioreactors.
