RESEARCH
Dr. Flauzino’s research explores the interface between molecular recognition, materials science, and digital analytics to enable next-generation biosensing. His current interests include:
Electrochemical biosensors – design of quantitative, low-power electrochemical platforms for nucleic acid and protein detection.
Lateral flow assay innovation – development of NFC-powered, smart test strips for real-time pathogen and biomarker analysis.
Aptamer and nucleic acid interfaces – selection and integration of aptamers for specific and stable molecular recognition in field-deployable sensors.
Data-driven diagnostics – coupling electrochemical signals with AI-assisted analytics and smartphone connectivity for rapid decision-making.
Sustainable sensing materials – use of cellulose, graphene, and other biodegradable substrates to reduce electronic waste and environmental impact.
His broader goal is to democratize access to molecular diagnostics through devices that are affordable, digitally connected, and environmentally sustainable—advancing global health, food security, and environmental resilience.
