MrJames Eteen

An experienced educator, James is the Academic Director of the Master's in Management (MiM) programme and was formerly Deputy Director of MBA programmes. He teaches Strategy to postgraduate students at Imperial Business School and has done so since 2016. James previously taught on the MBA and Executive MBA at Cambridge Judge Business School and was an Adjunct Professor at Hult International Business School. Awards include Outstanding Leadership (Faculty & Research) in 2026 and Teaching Excellence Prizes in 2020 and 2021. 

A former partner in a global consulting firm, James has advised C-level executives and senior leaders at multinationals, private equity firms and SMEs for 30 years. His areas of focus include corporate and competitive strategy, M&A, organisational change and business turnaround. James began his consulting career at Andersen Consulting (Accenture) in 1996, where he worked on international client engagements. James joined EY in 2005 and became an equity partner and co-leader of the Strategy Practice in London until retiring from the EY partnership in 2014 to set up in independent practice. During his time at EY, James was awarded Strategy Consultant of the Year 2007 by the MCA/Sunday Times.

James is a Fellow of the Institute of Consultants and has achieved Chartered Management Consultant status. He is a Certified Management and Business Educator and a member of the Institute of Directors.
