BIO
Since 2001 Dr Di Pasquale has been active in adult and paediatric sleep medicine in Australia and the UK.
He co-founded the Imperial College Centre for Sleep Science and Medicine and has served as an NHS Consultant at St Mary’s Hospital Paddington since 2008. In 2017 he founded the UK’s first independent paediatric sleep laboratory to improve accessibility to sleep services for both public and private patients. He has analysed and reported more than 20,000 adult and paediatric sleep studies.
James’ professional interests focus on wellness, relieving suffering, and optimising personal performance. His academic work initially focused on psychophysiological insomnia, and providing therapeutic support to those with chronic insomnia remains a major focus of his clinical work. He earned his clinical research doctorate in sleep medicine at Imperial College London under the supervision of Professor Colin Sullivan (inventor of CPAP therapy, Sydney), Professor Parviz Habibi, and Professor John Warner.
Since 2018, James has provided professional psychotherapy support for couples and individuals. As a psychotherapist, James takes a trauma-informed approach to his work with human behaviours and healing. He has extensive experience working compassionately with people who suffer from depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, suicidal ideation, and self-harming behaviours. He also works with war veterans suffering from PTSD and facilitates plant medicine-assisted therapies in Peru and Costa Rica.
He holds professional memberships with the British Sleep Society, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the European Sleep Research Society, the International Paediatric Sleep Association, and the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
