DrJudith Cherni, FRGS

Honorary Senior research fellow and part-time lecturer, Centre for Environmental Policy, Imperial College London, UK; Honorary Professor, University Las Villas, Cuba; Fellow of the UK Royal Geographical Society

     My main research area is energy modelling for sustainable development and energy access; renewable energy technology; environmental policy, energy markets, and climate change. This research has been applied to developing regions including Latin America, China, Asia & Africa, and also to the UK. Having led numerous international projects and research groups, and supervised post-graduate theses, my work has sought to enhance methodological approaches to advance clean and equal energy access in off-grid areas, climate change communication, and provide ways to transform domestic waste through dry-fermentation, particularly in growing rural towns. 

      I have developed expertise on multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary methods involving environment, technology, policy, economics and development.

     A further area I work on is environmental degradation in relation to agribusiness and deforestation and human consequences in terms of health. These research areas I associate with macro political economy, development and sustainability, mostly in poor and emerging economies.
