BIO
Jeroen worked as an allied health professional during his MSc in Human Movement Science at the Vrije University Amsterdam. At the end of this course he spent some time in South America setting up a motion analysis lab in the Anton de Kom University of Suriname. Upon return to Europe he was given the opportunity to obtain a PhD in Applied Biomedical Science at King's College London. He worked on body-worn sensor systems and the field quickly grabbed his interest.
After completing his PhD, he decided to focus his research on how wearable sensors can be used as an inexpensive and easy to use method to improve and standardise clinical practice. The advantage of these systems is that accurate measurements can be taken in any location without much practice or support. This matches the pressing need for fast, economical and reliable clinical measurements for an ageing population. It is likely that over the next ten years more and more of these systems will find their way into clinical practice.
His work relates to the design, development and testing of these new wearable technologies.
