Summary
Juliet Allibone is a Senior Programme Manager at the Fleming Initiative, an exciting new partnership between Imperial College London and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The Fleming Initiative, working with our funding partners including partners GSK, LifeARC and Optum, offers an innovative approach to the challenge of AMR – combining research, behaviour change, public engagement, and policy to provide real-world solutions that work to protect the health security of local populations around the world.
Background
Juliet Allibone has worked at Imperial College for more than 20 years. She was previously the Head of Operations for the National Institute of Health Research Health Protection Research Unit in Healthcare Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance, a partnership between Imperial College London, Public Health England, Warwick University, Cambridge University and Imperial College Health Partners.
The Unit was funded, along with 14 others in priority areas from immunisation to radiation hazards, to bring Universities to work in partnership with UKHSA. The Unit ran across two comissions from 01 April 2014 -31 October 2025 and during this time Juliet was also the Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement lead, creating a significant libarary of resources which recieved internal recognition in the President's awards for excellence.
Prior to that Juliet was the Head of Operations for the National Centre for Infection Prevention and Management, another collaborative award with UKHSA (then Public Health England) funded through a UKCRC Translational Infection Research Award and prior to that was the Deputy Divisional Manager for the Investigative Sciences.
Juliet started her career at Imperial, in the first intake to the College’s prestigious Management Training Scheme- at the time the only one in the sector. During the scheme Juliet worked to the directors of Central Administrative functions, including the Central Secretariat, HR, Finance, Estates, Registry and the Deputy Rector’s Office. Following an academic placement in what was then the Division of Investigative Science she subsequently took the role of Centre Manager for the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Centre based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital under Professor Dame Julia Polak. She then worked for 5 years as the Deputy Divisional Manager (HR) for the Division of Investigative Science.
Juliet has a first class History degree from UCL and an MA in Personnel and Development. She is a graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Personal and Development.
