DrIoanna Papatsouma

Ioanna Papatsouma is a Principal Teaching Fellow in Statistics in the Department of Mathematics, and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). She is the Director of Undergraduate Studies (Statistics) in the Department of Mathematics and the Faculty of Natural Sciences Assessment and Feedback lead for the university-wide assessment and feedback review, overseeing assessment and feedback practices across the faculty. As of 2026/27, she also co-leads Imperial’s Assessment and Feedback Special Interest Group. In 2026, she received the Faculty of Natural Sciences Inspirational Leadership Award.

Her research interests are in statistics and mathematics education, with a particular focus on assessment and feedback, the development of teaching and learning through Students as Partners (SaP), and the communication of mathematics and statistics.

Outside Imperial, Ioanna is Co-Director of the Centre for Statistics and Data Science Education, Chair of the Royal Statistical Society's Teaching Statistics Section, and a member of both the RSS EDI Advisory Group and the IMA Higher Education Committee.
