DrBella Orlando

I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Imperial Memory Research Centre, investigating early intervention strategies for Alzheimer’s disease and mild cognitive impairment using multimodal neuroimaging approaches, including MRI and PET.

I recieved my PhD in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience at The University of Sydney in 2025. My doctoral research examined the role of neuromodulatory systems in Parkinson’s disease and sleep in healthy ageing through a multimodal framework combining pharmacological manipulations, functional MRI, simultaneous EEG-fMRI, eye tracking, and cognitive assessments.

Across my doctoral and postdoctoral work, I have combined innovative neuroimaging methodologies with cognitive neuroscience frameworks to generate new insights into adaptive cognition, sleep, memory and brain health across ageing and disease. My current research aims to identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets that can facilitate earlier intervention and improve outcomes for individuals at risk of cognitive decline and dementia.
