MissIliana Dimitrova

Research Postgraduate

Department of Mechanical Engineering - Faculty of Engineering

BIO

Mrs. Iliana D. Dimitrova da Silva is a Ph.D. candidate carrying out research in the Thermofluids Division, in the department of Mechanical Engineering under the supervision of Professor Yannis Hardalupas and Professor Alex M.K.P. Taylor. Her industrial research investigates thermoacoustic instabilities in hydrogen gas turbines with additional efforts on prediction and suppression strategies, partnering with Siemens Energy.

Iliana is part of Cohort 1 of the Green Industrial Futures CDT, a multi-institutional doctoral training programme organised between Imperial College London, Heriot-Watt University, University of Bath, and University of Sheffield. The programme brings together interdisciplinary expertise to develop innovative solutions for industrial decarbonisation and the transition to net zero.

Also an active member of the Department's community, she is serving as a student representative for the Thermofluids Division and as a member of the organising committee for the Department of Mechanical Engineering Research Seminar Series.

Teaching

Iliana has experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) across undergraduate and master's-level modules in Imperial College London's Department of Mechanical Engineering, including Thermodynamics 1 (MECH40003), Heat Transfer (MECH50001), Interfacing and Data Processing (MECH70009), and Future Clean Transport Technologies (MECH70003), for which she currently serves as GTA leader.

During her master's studies, she was also the teaching assistant for master's-level Linear Algebra (CEMSE151) in the Department of Computer, Electrical and Mathematical Sciences and Engineering, King Abdullah Univeristy of Science and Technology.
