BIO
Hanna is a PhD student working on Battery Fire Safety. She works between the fields of electrochemistry and fire science, sitting jointly in the Electrochemical Science and Engineering group, where she is supervised by Dr Huizhi Wang, and the Hazelab research group, where she is supervised by Prof. Guillermo Rein. Her research focus is on understanding how the degradation of Lithium-ion Batteries affects their fire safety, in order to enable their safe re-use in stationary energy storage systems.
Prior to starting her PhD, Hanna worked in industry as a Mechanical Engineer, for Artemis Technologies Ltd. Artemis is a tech-spin off from the successful America's cup sailing team of the same name, now developing electric hydro-foiling workboats and ferries in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Within her role at Artemis, Hanna worked across all areas of the Propulsion and Mechanical Systems team, from battery pack development, to thermal management and hydraulic system design.
Hanna graduated from Imperial College London in 2021 with an MEng in Mechanical Engineering. She completed her final year at ETH Zurich, where she wrote her Masters Thesis on the development of a sound field simulator to enable experimental investigation of cavitation bubbles.
