BIO

Han Ming is a PhD candidate in the Geotechnics Section at Imperial College London, advised by Prof. Lidija Zdravković and Prof. David M. Potts. His research explores thermo-hydro-mechanical-chemical (THM-C) modelling of bentonite clay for nuclear waste disposal applications, with a particular focus on groundwater salinity. He was awarded the Skempton Scholarhip to pursue his research and his research project is sponsored by the Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) UK. Han Ming’s key areas of focus include:

-Development of soil constitutive model capturing effects of groundwater salinity on soil behaviour
-Development of fully coupled THM-C Finite Element (FE) formulation
-Numerical modelling of confined swelling tests for bentonite clay

Prior to his PhD, Han Ming received his BEng (2022) in Civil Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and has gained experience in engineering consultancy in the fields of coastal, structural and geotechnical engineering in Singapore.
