BIO

Huw Woodbridge is an Honorary Research Associate in the Department of Surgery and Cancer at Imperial College and a Highly Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He is currently the recipient of an NIHR Senior Clinical and Practitioner Research Award.

Huw graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of the West of England, Bristol in 2005. In 2012 he received a Master of Research in Clinical Practice with distinction from St George’s, University of London.

Huw completed his PhD in 2022 at Imperial College London under the supervision of Prof. Anthony Gordon and Prof. Caroline Alexander. He explored the barriers to early mobilisation and developed tools to study the safety of mobilisation of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients. Huw was funded by a Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship from the National Institute for Health Research and Health Education England.

Huw’s current post-doctoral work involves co-designing implementation strategies to promote patient-centred physical rehabilitation for intensive care patients.
