ProfessorHelen Ward

Professor Helen Ward, FMedSci, FFPH, FRCP (Hon), PhD, MBChB, MSc.

Helen trained in Medicine at Sheffield University. training in Public Health and Genitourinary Medicine. She has a Masters in Epidemiology from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a PhD in Public Health from City University London. She is Clinical Professor of Public Health at Imperial College London and a Consultant in Public Health at Imperial College NHS Trust. She is an elected Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.

Her research is on the epidemiology and control of infectious diseases, including HIV, sexually transmitted infections and SARS-CoV-2, and currently co-leads the REACT study of the long term health impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on health and wellbeing. She is Director of the Imperial Patient Experience Research Centre, leading on public and patient involvement in research and conducting collaborative and patient-facing research on translational medicine. She co-leads research on the interaction between social, genetic and environmental determinants of health with a focus on inequality. She also leads on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion for the Imperial Biomedical Research Centre.
