BIO
Harshavardhan (Harsh) Jatkar researches how built environment and infrstructure systems shape equitable, sustainable and healthy futures. His work integrates social, technical, community-oriented, and human development perspectives to address complex planetary challenges.
He is lead author of three United Nations Environment Programme-backed national technical guidelines, Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy: Material Efficiency Strategies for the Residential Building Construction Sector, developed for Argentina, Mexico, and Indonesia. He is also a Working Group III Fellow for the Lancet Countdown Global Reports on Health and Climate Change, contributing to international work on the intersections of climate change and public health.
Alongside his research, Harsh has contributed to teaching, mentoring, and academic leadership in sustainability and policy education, advancing inclusive and interdisciplinary approaches to policy and practice. Before joining Imperial College London, he held leadership roles at University College London, including Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources and Co-Chair of the UCL Energy and Development Group.
