BIO
I am a Research Associate, based in the Centre for Haematology, Department of Immunology and Inflammation. I completed my Master's within the department, and during this, I had the opportunity to work on a six-month lab project in Dr. Tom McKinnon's group at Imperial, focusing on the structure and function of the C-terminal domains of Von Willebrand Factor (VWF). During this time my passion for thrombosis and haemostasis research grew and led me to pursue a British Heart Foundation (BHF) funded PhD in the same subject area and laboratory.
I was awarded a training fellowship from the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, which allowed me to work at the University of Massachusetts, learning advanced biophysical techniques, such as Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) imaging and Single-Molecule Optical Tweezer experiments.
Alongside my VWF work, I am currently working on a research project in the McKinnon group investigating thromboplastics, supported by a project grant from the Medical Research Council (MRC). This aims to investigate how microplastic particles impact the vascular and haemostatic systems. I am working in collaboration with colleagues in Imperial’s School of Public Health and National Heart and Lung Institute, as well as the non-profit organisation, Common Seas.
