BIO

Dr Gesthimani (Mania) Misirli is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Primary Care and Public Health, where her work focuses on the use of electronic health records (EHRs) to explore patterns of disease and healthcare delivery in the real world. Her current research investigates how large-scale, routinely collected clinical data can be harnessed to better understand multimorbidity, healthcare utilization, and health outcomes in primary care settings.
She holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Athens, where her thesis examined the association between the Mediterranean diet and the incidence of stroke. She also holds an MSc in Medical Statistics from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a medical degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
In addition to her academic work, Dr Misirli is a practicing General Practitioner in London, which informs her research with clinical insight. Her previous experience includes roles in epidemiological research and international medical organizations, including work on the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) and the South London Stroke Register.
