BIO

Felicity Worsnop is a Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellow in the Department of Materials, Imperial College London. Her research focuses on the physical metallurgy, environmental degradation and micromechanics of alloys for nuclear, aerospace and other demanding applications. Particular interests include hydrogen–microstructure interactions, in situ experimental techniques and advanced characterisation.

Felicity read Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge, before completing her PhD at Imperial on physical metallurgy and micromechanics in titanium alloys (sponsor: Rolls-Royce), for which she was awarded the McLean Medal. She was subsequently a postdoctoral researcher at Imperial, MIT and the Max Planck Institute for Sustainable Materials, where she held a Humboldt Research Fellowship. She has further experience in industry (TIMET/Precision Castparts; Cummins, Inc.) and as a director of a start-up.
