BIO
Florian is a seasoned software engineer and researcher with a strong academic foundation and extensive experience in advanced computing. From his early education, he holds both an MEng in Software Engineering from Epitech in France (MESR RNCP 7), as well as an MSc in Advanced Computing with a specialization in Neurobology-inspired Computational Intelligence from the University of Kent in the United Kingdom.
Florian started his PhD studies in 2012, under the supervision of Professor Yi-Ke Guo, at Imperial College London's Discovery Sciences Group, before becoming a founding member of the Data Science Institute in 2014. He has since played a pivotal role for the Institute taking on the design, building and management of its datacentre infrastructure, supporting hundreds of high-impact projects across various domains and faculties, enabling cutting-edge research and innovation.
In the past decade his work has primordially focused on applying computing technologies to healthcare and biomedical research has provided critical infrastructure and computational resources. Over the years, Florian's research interests have evolved, with a growing focus on Confidential Computing.
In 2024, he introduced the concept of "Honest Computing" in a position paper presented at the International Data for Policy conference, marking a significant contribution to the field and reflecting his commitment to advancing secure and ethical computing practices.
