DrFlorian Glocklhofer

Florian Glöcklhofer is a Visiting Researcher in the Department of Chemistry. From 2018 to 2023, he held a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (2018 to 2020), an Erwin Schrödinger Fellowship (2020 to 2022), and a Research Fellow position (2022 to 2023) in the same department. He is now a principal investigator at TU Wien in Vienna (Austria). His research in the field of π-conjugated organic compounds focuses on the design and synthesis of cyclic molecules known as π-conjugated macrocycles, which can be used for battery electrodes and organic electronics, and on the development of new synthetic approaches to aromatic organic compounds.

Florian received his PhD from TU Wien in 2017, having developed a new synthetic method for the preparation of cyanated aromatic compounds. In 2018, after a year at TU Wien as a postdoctoral researcher developing thioalkyl-substituted polymers and post-polymerization modification methods, he moved to Imperial College London for his Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship project on π-conjugated macrocycles.

Florian has published more than 30 peer-reviewed journal articles, including many articles published as the corresponding author.
