BIO

Dr. Francesco Di Fiore is a Research Associate in computational methods for sustainable aviation at the Department of Aeronautics and at the Brahmal Vasudevan Institute for Sustainable Aviation. His work focuses on scientific machine learning, multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO), and real-time data-to-decision frameworks for the design and health monitoring of zero-emission aerospace vehicles and technologies.

His research has been applied across a range of cutting-edge aerospace challenges, including the design and optimization of aircraft and hypersonic re-entry vehicles, real-time onboard health monitoring of electric flight control systems and structural health monitoring of composite structures, and in the activities of leading international research groups including those within the NATO Applied Vehicle Technology research task groups.

Dr. Di Fiore holds his BSc, MSc, and PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, where he was awarded the “Quality of the Research” prize for the best doctoral research of the year in Aerospace Engineering.
