RESEARCH
Globally, the energy sector is transforming to address the 21st-century challenges of energy access and climate change. In the UK and other developed countries, the electric sector is at the center of this transformation as the resources supplying electricity shift away from fossil fuels to clean energy resources, and electricity demand is rising due to the electrification of transportation, heating, and manufacturing.
To achieve the net-zero goals set by governments all over the world, a lot of hard decisions on policies, electricity market design, and power system operator processes will be made. My research group aims to contribute novel solutions, tools, and analyses that will support decision makers.
Ongoing projects focus on:
1) market design in deeply decarbonized power systems with long duration electricity storage.
2) market integration of demand-side flexibility.
3) effective consideration of network constraints and energy storage limits in power system operator processes.
4) strategic power system planning.
