BIO
Emily is a PhD student whose current research is focusing on traumatic brain injury (TBI) caused by sports impacts, which lies in the intersection of brain science, sports science and engineering. She is investigating the biomechanics of the head impacts in sports, identifying the risk factor of neurodegeneration, and surrogate modelling of finite element methods by machine learning methods, with the aim of real-time TBI prediction for sporting collisions.
Emily is supervised by Dr Mazdak Ghajari at the Human Experience, Analysis and Design (HEAD) Lab at Dyson School of Design Engineering, Imperial College since November 2022. Her PhD study is funded by Sports and Wellbeing Analytics (SWA), a progressive player in the field of wearable technology.
Before joining Dyson School, Emily received her master's degree in the Department of Computing, Imperial College, in October 2022. Emily's background is in electronic engineering and computer science, which she studied during her undergraduate programme at Queen Mary University of London. She completed her final year project in Valencia Polytechnic University, Spain, where she developed a contactless, gesture-controlled jigsaw puzzle game for disabled children in Valencia, Spain. She graduated in 2021 with a first-class honour.
