BIO

I am an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow and Resident Doctor in Paediatrics, currently undertaking clinical training in North East and Central London.

My research aims to understand the biological mechanisms underlying immune dysfunction in paediatric critical illness and how these can be translated into precision medicine approaches.
I utilise both computational analysis of transcriptomic datasets with laboratory-based immunoassay to identify pathways that drive heterogeneous responses in critical illness, including to severe infection and inflammation. My current work includes investigating temporal immune trajectories in paediatric sepsis, integrating multi-omic datasets to characterise shared features of immune dysfunction or sub-phenotypes, and defining approaches to enable immune sub-phenotype stratification in paediatric intensive care trials.

Previously, I completed a PhD at UCL investigating neutrophil responses during respiratory syncytial virus infection using a novel in vitro model of the lung. My doctoral work focused on the mechanisms regulating neutrophil migration, activation and apoptosis within the airway, combining in vitro epithelial models with cellular immunology and live microscopy.
I subsequently completed my foundation training in the East of England as an Academic Foundation Doctor at the University of Cambridge, where I studied the regulation of neutrophil responses in acute respiratory distress syndrome.
I am currently supported by the NIHR Paediatric Critical Care Research Incubator Mentorship scheme.
