BIO
Eirini is a PhD student based at the Centre for Environmental Policy, where she researches the heat transition in England and the creation of a policy framework that accounts for climate risk and stakeholder preferences under the supervision of Dr. Zen Makuch. Her research uses a mixed-methods approach and borrows insights from several disciplines to propose a consumer-centric policy framework for the heat transition in urban settings. Her work is funded by the Science and Solutions for a Changing Planet Doctoral Training Partnership (Cohort 10) and the Onassis Foundation.
During her PhD Eirini completed her traineeship at the European Commission, where she handled files on thermal energy communities and supported the development of the Citizens Energy Package.
Aside from her research, she is passionate about the participation of youth in the climate change and sustainability discourses. She founded Sustainability for Students, an online resource hub aiming to make the sustainability discourse accessible to all while amplifying the voices of the youth - focusing on capacity building and green skills. Eirini is also recognised as a European Climate Pact Ambassador by the EU Commission, a Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum and a Rising Leader by the UK Aspen Institute.
