DrEdward Phillips

Dr Ed Phillips is a CRUK Convergence Science Clinical Research Fellow in Professors Simak Ali and Laki Buluwela's lab. His fellowship aims to develop transcriptional inhibitors as a new class of cancer therapeutic. In particular he is looking at the role of CDK12 and CDK13 in transcription. The aim is to identify biomarkers and possible combination strategies for the CDK12/13 inhibitor CT7439, which has recently entered a phase 1 clinical trial.

Ed has a pre-clinical medical degree from the University of Cambridge, including a Part II in Pharmacology and Genetics. The clinical part of his medical degree is from University College London. Before joining Imperial, he was a clinical oncology registrar at Oxford University Hospitals. He has previously worked as a clinical research fellow at the Royal Marsden Breast Unit and was a sub-investigator in a large number of clinical trials. In particular, much of his work was spent on the TRAK-ER clinical trial.
