DrEd Waddingham

Ed Waddingham, MMath, MSc, PhD is a Research Fellow and Senior Statistician in the Imperial Clinical Trials Unit (ICTU), School of Public Health, Imperial College London.

Ed has worked in clinical trials and pharmacoepidemiology for over a decade and has experience of trials encompassing a wide range of disease areas and study designs. His current portfolio includes trials in critical care medicine, infection and mental health. Ed's research interests include adaptive/efficient trial designs, pharmacovigilance and the integration of benefit and risk data in medical decision making. He is a member of the NIHR Statistics Working Group on benefit-risk.

Ed's MMath from the Univeristy of Oxford was completed in 2006. In 2011 he was awarded a NIHR Research Methods Fellowship as part of which he obtained his MSc in Epidemiology from Imperial College London. Following this he worked as a clinical trial statistician at ICTU until 2015, when he was awarded Imperial President's Scholarship funding for his PhD in Bayesian benefit-risk modelling, which he completed in 2020. This was followed by a period working in the Department of Brain Sciences before returning to ICTU in 2022 as a Research Fellow and Senior Statistician.
