Ed is the Project Manager for the WCRF Global Cancer Update Programme (CUP Global) team at Imperial College, in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the School of Public Health. The CUP Global team at ICL is responsible for conducting systematic literature reviews (SLRs) and meta-analyses of the epidemiological evidence on the role of lifestyle factors on cancer prevention and survival. The programme has been on-going since 2007 and to date the Imperial team has completed more than 20 SLRs.
He also manages the Imperial section of the Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Research Unit (CEPRU) led by Professor Marc Gunter. CEPRU is a partnership between Imperial and the Institute of Cancer Research which aims to promote multidisciplinary research on the causes and mechanisms of cancer, particularly on the role of modifiable risk factors, and translate this knowledge into effective public health strategies for cancer prevention, early detection and survival.
He has a research background in developmental biology, with a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from University College London.
