BIO
Emma manages the programmes and operations for the internal and external portfolios of Centre for Academic English, including its HR and Finance.
She leads the administrative team which sets up the internal provision (1:1s online and face-to-face, learning blocks, guided activity sessions in writing and speaking & listening, commissioned workshops, Imperial’s Doctoral Academic Communication Requirement) across departments and degree programmes, as well as the external provision (pre-sessional courses and commissioned work).
Before joining Imperial, Emma was Head of Undergraduate Programmes at the Oxford campus of the French Grande Ecole, EM Normandie, where she was a member of the Chartered Management Institute. Emma was awarded a certificate of Women’s Leadership Development from the Said Business School, University of Oxford.
In previous roles, Emma introduced quantitative analysis into the PPE and History & Politics courses at the Department of Politics & International Relations, University of Oxford, and organised comms and global events at the university’s Bonavero Institute of Human Rights.
Emma is particularly interested in communications and framing. After graduating with an MA in Social & Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge, she worked as a producer and then as a reporter for Reuters, BBC News and ITN.
As a mentor for the Social Mobility Foundation, Emma is committed to widening participation in Higher Education.
