DrEnrico Biffis

Enrico Biffis is Professor of Actuarial Finance at Imperial College Business School, Academic Director of its Centre for Climate Finance & Investment, and Academic Director of the MSc in Climate Change, Management & Finance. His expertise spans risk analysis and asset–liability management in insurance and investment management, as well as climate risk analytics and data-driven tools for measuring and managing risks across asset classes.

He has collaborated with major financial institutions, regulators, and international organisations, and has received multiple grants and awards for research on the modelling and management of complex risks. His previous academic roles include serving as tenured faculty at the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University and as an editor of ASTIN Bulletin – The Journal of the International Actuarial Association. At Imperial, he has also served as Associate Director for Development Finance at the Brevan Howard Centre for Financial Analysis and as co-director of the Sustainable Tech Lab at Imperial-X.

His work on parametric insurance and financial inclusion received the 2023 SCOR/EGRIE Best Paper Award and the 2022 FT Responsible Business Education Research Award. His research in actuarial risk analytics has also received the Casualty Actuarial Society’s Charles A. Hachemeister Prize, Brian Hey Prize and Peter Clark Prize, as well as the Giuseppe Ottaviani Prize and the SCOR UK Prize.
