Educational Project Manager | Learning & Development Specialist | WHO Collaborating Centre, Imperial College London
Ela Augustyniak is an Educational Project Manager at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Public Health Education and Training at Imperial College London. She facilitates the design, delivery, and evaluation of international education and training programmes in public health.
Ela holds a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA). She is passionate about multilingualism, inclusive education, effective communication methods and the role of learning in improving health outcomes globally.
Her work focuses on supporting the development of high-quality, learner-centred programmes and initatives that support capacity building across diverse global contexts. She has extensive experience working with international stakeholders, including academic institutions, healthcare professionals, NGOs, contributing to the development of training initiatives aligned with global health priorities. At the WHO Collaborating Centre she has been leading on the organisation, delivery and evaluation of students educational visits to WHO Headquarters in Geneva and WHO Academy in Lyon.
She co-leads the internship programme for Master’s of Public Health students and medical students. She also leads the organisation of the flagship Postgraduate Fellowship programme across various specialties, ranging from public health to women’s health, school and adolescent health, and dental public health. She co-organised the first fellowship in Lifestyle Medicine in the UK and Europe.
Currently, Ela leads a project evaluating the usefulness of AI in translating specialised medical patient leaflets.
Ela's expertise lies in learning design, facilitation, and programme evaluation. She has supported a wide range of educational activities, including postgraduate teaching, the design and delivery of the online masters in public health programme, postgraduate fellowship, international study visits, and professional training programmes. Ela also supported the assessment of WHO Leadership in Emergencies training program. She is interested in participatory approaches to learning and research, including co-design methodologies and the integration of lived experience into programme development.
Her interests include assessment design, learning analytics, and the role of education in strengthening health systems.
She is strongly committed to community-based approaches, demonstrated through her volunteering with Riding for the Disabled Association, where she combines her lifelong equestrian passion with humanitarian work. Her contributions also include blogs on children’s mental health (Childrens' Mental Health Week 2025 ; Children's Mental Health Week 2026) and involvement in a community campaign on breastfeeding: Breastfeeding Campaign
