BIO

I am a Professor of Practice in the Management and Entrepreneurship Group where I explore the applications of AI to education.

I have a long standing interest in the use of technology in Education, I formed the Imperial College Business School’s Edtech Lab in 2004 to explore the use of digital technology in Higher Education. We launched Imperial College's first online courses in 2004 and Imperial’s first online degree programme, the Global Online MBA, in 2015. The Edtech Lab now delivers more than 200 online modules each academic year and has been the recipient of a number of awards. I stepped down from leading this team in 2022 and am now focused on AI strategy, adoption and infrastructure development.

I am actively involved in tech-transfer and entrepreneurship. I currently teach classes in New Venture Creation and act as an ‘Expert in Residence’ at the Imperial Enterprise Lab.  In 2005. I was co-founder of the Imperial College spin-out Epigeum (now a successful part of the Oxford University Press) and in 2018 I co-founded Insendi (now part of Study Group), a leading educational technology firm which offers a pedagogy focused online learning platform. I recently launched 'Curriculum Advances' which publishes digital courseware in a format designed to maintain student attention.

I am an experienced board member. I am currently a trustee of the British Council where I also focus on digital innovation.
