David Cai is a PhD student and a member of the Micro-Nano Innovation Lab (mini Lab) at the Hamlyn Centre for Surgical Robotics in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. 

His current research is focused on developing automated cooperative micromanipulation systems for the precision assembly of medical micro-optics to enable the fabrication of sub-millimetre NIRF/IVUS catheters. This work is conducted as part of the NIRFUS project and funded by the European Innovation Coucil.
