BIO
I investigate how context-dependent reconfigurations in brain connectivity and dynamics underpin processes affected by mental health and psychiatric conditions, especially addiction. Insights into the neural correlates of addiction are used to inform how we may best target therapeutic neuromodulatory interventions, such as noninvasive brain stimulation and/or psychedelic drugs.
I'm a very methods-focused person, and am semi-obsessed with multimodal imaging (e.g., fMRI, PET, T1w, DWI), dynamical systems theory, and information theoretic metrics. I think noninvasive brain stimulation (especially Temporal Interference stimulaion) is a promising tool to both learn more about brain function and deliver targeted therapeutic interventions.
Please see my ORcID, Google Scholar, and GitHub for the most up-to-date information on my research outputs. For more information on ongoing research projects please email me at danielle.kurtin18@imperial.ac.uk.
I also enjoy leadership and art activities, such my membership on the UniArk board of directors and co-founding the Craving Clarity podcast on the global dimensions of addiction. Previously, I've co-founded the Mini Hack Collection on F1000 Research, collaborated on the Adapt To Postgrad course at Imperial, and more.
