BIO

Dimitris is a doctoral researcher in the Mechanics of Materials division within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. His research focuses on the compaction modelling of granular energetic materials and on understanding how processing conditions affect the density distribution and mechanical response of compacted tablets.

As part of his doctoral work, he combines experimental characterisation, inverse optimisation, and finite element modelling in Abaqus using the Drucker–Prager Cap material model. His work aims to develop a calibrated modelling framework that links powder compaction, manufacturing-induced heterogeneity, and safer processing routes.

Before joining Imperial, Dimitrios completed a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Thessaly, graduating first in his cohort. His diploma thesis focused on virtual sensing and structural response reconstruction using an Augmented Kalman Filter.
