BIO
David is a post-doctoral clinical academic fellow, currently working in the MSk lab and the School of Public Health under the mentorship of Alison McGregor and Azeem Majeed. His research interests are in physical activity, biomechanics, and social and community factors, with a particular focus on healthy ageing.
David was previously a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellow at the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI) at Imperial College, and completed a PhD in 2017 in mechanobiology (how mechanical stresses are sensed by the body and converted into biological signals). He graduated from University College London Medical School with MBBS and BSc(hons). He has completed an academic clinical fellowship (ACF) in primary care, and now works as a Sports and Exercise Medicine registrar in London.
His research interests focus on the barriers and solutions to being physically active and building physical literacy, and on how biomechanics can be used in community and sport settings to better detect frailty and joint disease, and improve rehabilitation. He is the topic lead for physical activity for undergraduate medical students. He has led the development of digital tools to support physical activity for adults and older adults. You can see him presenting at the Imperial College Faculty of Medicine staff rounds here.
