RESEARCH
Overview
Prof. Potts' areas of research
Finite Element Analysis of an embankment failure using MIT- E3 anisotropic soil model.
Numerical Analysis:
Professor Potts has worked extensively on the development of computer methods of analysis and, more particularly, on the application of elasto-plastic finite element programs to the design of real geotechnical structures.
Research undertaken includes (but not limited to)
embankments
dams
foundations
pipelines
constitutive modelling
geotechnical earthquake modelling
partially saturated soils
tunnels
offshore foundations
the Leaning Tower of Pisa
