DrDamien Ming

Damien is a research fellow at the Fleming Initiative, and an honorary consultant in infectious diseases at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. 

His research focuses on implementation of digital health for the clinical management of infectious diseases through use of temporal data, novel wearables and rapid diagnostics modalities. His PhD examined the role of machine learning in acute febrile illnesses for low- and middle-income settings - this work was supervised by Alison Holmes, Pantelis Georgiou at Imperial and Sophie Yacoub at OUCRU, Vietnam and funded by the Wellcome Trust. 

Current research include a multi-centre prospective trial on rapid diagnostics for in-hospital transmission of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales (Fleming Initiative), prospective evaluation of wearables for risk stratification of dengue (LifeArc), and neonatal sepsis (Imperial College London), development of novel biosensing modalities for risk stratification and drug dosing (Wellcome Trust), risk prediction approaches in resistant bacterial infections through use of clinical data (Fleming Initiative) and is a commissioner on the 2026 Lancet Commission on Sepsis. 

He completed his training at the University of Oxford in 2009, diploma in tropical medicine & hygiene at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and has worked in clinical research in Malawi, Laos and Vietnam.
