DrDaniel Cristiu

Dr Daniel Crîstiu is a Research Associate in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London, working on value and supply chain design and optimisation. His research sits at the intersection of process systems engineering, sustainable supply chain design, and market-based mechanism in environmental management.

Daniel’s expertise includes developing advanced optimisation strategies and integrating sustainability into supply chains. His work combines mathematical optimisation, decision-making under uncertainty, and supply chain management, using techniques like robust and stochastic optimisation to enhance decision-making and improve supply chain performance in chemical processes and manufacturing.

Daniel earned his PhD in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from the University of Padua, where he focused on the optimal design of sustainable production systems. His application-driven doctoral work resulted in several peer-reviewed publications in areas such as decarbonisation (carbon capture and storage, direct air capture) and waste and materials management (mixed plastic waste recycling, critical raw materials recovery). His research applied multi-objective, multi-period, and uncertainty-aware optimisation models to real-world challenges.
