BIO
Chloe is a group leader at NHLI in respiratory epidemiology. She is an Honorary Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust working in integrated respiratory care and specialist asthma clinics. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.
She read Medicine at the University of Manchester and graduated with Honours in Research and a BSc in Biological Sciences from Imperial College London. Chloe undertook specialist respiratory training in North West London and was awarded a MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship. She carried out her PhD at the MRC-National Institute for Medical Research under Professor Anne O'Garra FRS, applying bioinformatics and biostatistics to evaluate genomic and clinical data from respiratory patients. After completing her specialist respiratory training, she obtained an MSc in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Chloe joined Imperial College London in 2017 on a NHLI fellowship. She was awarded a prestigious NIHR Advanced Fellowship in 2021 to lead a programme of research in asthma related to the use of asthma medication, involving quantitative and qualitative approaches and a data-enabled pragmatic trial.
The research interests of her group are centred on the use of large clinical datasets to improve the management of respiratory disease, with a focus on adult and paediatric asthma, as well as other respiratory diseases including covid-19, ILD, bronchiectasis and COPD. Chloe has received funding from several source including the MRC, Asthma + Lung UK, ERS and the NIHR.
Her research is included in national and international asthma guidelines (BTS/SIGN, ERS, GINA), international bronchiectasis guidelines (ERS) and used by government bodies (JCVI, Chief Medical Officer, two All-Party Parliamentary Group reports). She has authored over 70 publications with first/senior author publications in the top respiratory and general medical journals, including the Lancet Respiratory Medicine, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, European Respiratory Journal, Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and JAMA Internal Medicine.
Chloe is a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority, her teaching roles include Respiratory Lead for Imperial College School of Medicine final years, ICSM Academic Tutor and supervision of BSc and MSc students.
Her professional activities include Associate Editor for the European Respiratory Journal and an elected Council Member for the British Thoracic Society. She is a member of several committees including NIHR grant reviewer and funding committees (DSE, FFLP, PGfAR), BTS Science and Research Committee, Primary Care Respiratory Society Policy Committee and CPRD Expert Review Committee.
