DrChristopher Bernhard Timmermann Slater

He obtained his PhD (2020) working with Robin Carhart-Harris, and David Nutt, and led the DMT Research Group (2020-2024) at Imperial College London at the Centre for Psychedelic Research. He currently is the co-director of the UCL Centre for Consciousness Research where he investigates the impact of meditation and psychedelics in the mind and brain and is the founder and director for the ECOH Foundation for the Study of Human Consciousness.

His empirical and theoretical work employs an interdisciplinary approach to the neuroscience, psychiatry, phenomenology, and ethics of psychedelics, their relationship to consciousness and applications in mental health. He focuses particularly on:

- The mechanisms of psychedelics on the brain and mind combining neuroimaging techniques (fMRI, M/EEG) and experience-based metrics.
- The contribution of non ordinary states - such as psychedelics and meditation - to the understanding of human consciousness. 
- The impact of psychedelics and meditation on mental health and wellbeing.

 
His work has been published in high-regarded scientific journals and covered by mass media outlets (BBC, CBC, Wired, The Times, New Scientist).
