BIO
Charles is a Lecturer in Chemistry at Imperial College London. He leads the Poly(Cat) lab, a research group interested in the development of sustainable polymers including the use a renewable resources, the design of new metal catalysts and improving material end-of-life.
Throughout his scientific journey as a researcher in Chemistry, Charles has developed an interest and expertise in research data management and FAIR data. He is currently co-leading the Research Data Strategy discussion group at DigiFAB which aims to identify, disseminate and implement good practices for data sharing and publication in Chemistry.

BIOGRAPHICAL DATA
Charles graduated in 2008 from Université de Rennes 1 (France) where he obtained his M.Sc degree as well his engineering degree from Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Rennes (ENSCR), Charles then obtained his Ph.D in 2011 from Université de Strasbourg under the supervision of Dr. Samuel Dagorne and Dr. Stéphane Bellemin-Laponnaz. His thesis project focused on the synthesis and the reactivity of group 4 metal complexes bearing NHC ligands and their applications in the ring-opening polymerisation (ROP) of cyclic polar monomers.
In January 2012, he joined Econic-Technologies as a Research Scientist to work on new catalysts for making polycarbonates from epoxide/CO2 copolymerisation.
In February 2013, Charles joined a multidisciplinary EPRSC project focused on the deconstruction of biomass and the valorisation of carbohydrates. Under the supervision of Prof. Charlotte K. Williams at Imperial College London, Charles developed new synthetic methodologies to access polyesters, polycarbonates and block copolymers from renewable resources.
In September 2016, Charles started his independent career as a Junior Research Fellow in the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London (under the sponsorship of Prof. George Britovsek). Charles was then appointed as a Lecturer in Chemistry in April 2022.
Overall, his work has led to >30 publications (total citation > 1500, HI = 21), 3 patents and 3 book chapters.
