Research areas
My research projects are exclusively on joint reconstruction and mainly oriented towards:
1- Patient specific implant positioning technique for hip and knee replacements (kinematic alignment technique)
--> Kinematic Alignment for total knee replacement (TKA): every patient has a specific knee anatomy. Conventional technique of TKA does not take into account patient pecularities and this affects patient's functional outcomes. Kinematic alignment technique for TKA enables a patient-specific implant positioning of the implants in order to restore the native healthy patient anatomy and hopefully improve function. With the MSK Lab team, we are leading multiple research projects assessing the value of this technique.
2- The development of intra-operative tool enhancing the reality and enabling higher surgical precision.
--> Proper implant positioning in joint replacement is paramount to obtain the best outcomes. The assessment during the surgery of the quality of the implant positioning is likely to enable correction of surgical imprecisions and therefore would optimise patient's clinical outcomes.
