BIO
Over the past 13 years, Connor had the privilege of working in both NHS and research laboratories, gaining extensive knowledge & experience in the application of histological techniques.
His journey began at Great Ormond Street Hospital, where he progressed through all sections of the laboratory, handling diverse biological specimens. This experience enriched he's skill set within areas such as Microtomy, Special Stains, Electron Microscopy, and Immunohistochemistry.Subsequently,
Connor joined the MRC Prions unit at UCL as a histology technician. Here, he provided specialist technical support to the core Histology service, ensuring that all histological samples, whether from experimental animals or human diagnostics met the highest standards of preparation. This attention to detail facilitated analysis by senior experts and contributed to publications.
Currently, Connor runs IRD’s histology facility that provides essential services, including the processing & embedding of tissue into paraffin wax blocks, sectioning and specialized staining. The facility also offers a cryo-sectioning service and can provide guidance and training in histology techniques.
Connor is also pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedicine at Birkbeck, University of London, further expanding he's knowledge.
