BIO
Charles is a research assistant in the plasma physics group, specialising in applying X-ray free-electron laser and synchrotron diagnostics to pulsed power driven dense plasma states. Having completed a DPhil in "Novel X-ray Free Electron Laser based techniques for high energy density science and laboratory astrophysics" at the University of Oxford, where he led experiments at European XFEL, LCLS and SACLA, Charles brings expertise in X-ray diagnostics of dense plasmas to pulsed power platforms. He employs X-ray diffraction, X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy and X-ray imaging to probe the structure and dynamics of pulsed power driven dense plasma states, and additionally continues to investigate optical and X-ray laser driven dense plasma experiments.
