BIO

I am a molecular geneticist investigating how non-coding small RNAs shape animal physiology, development, and responses to the environment. I obtained my undergraduate degree with First Class Honours from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, before completing my PhD at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where I studied the gene regulatory networks that control embryonic endoderm development in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans.

Supported by an EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowship, I completed my postdoctoral training at Tel Aviv University, Israel, where I investigated how non-coding small RNAs regulate stress responses and immune gene expression, allowing animals to cope with environmental insults.

I was subsequently awarded a prestigious four-year Imperial College Research Fellowship. My current work focuses on understanding how small RNA pathways regulate phenotypic plasticity and enable animals to adapt to changing environmental conditions (see Research).
