BIO
I am currently Chair of Cardiovascular Science at Imperial College London and Co-Director of the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Centre of Research Excellence. I also chair Imperial’s 3Rs Advisory Board.
My research team continues to develop discovery science in non-coding RNAs, RNA modifications, extracellular vesicles (EVs) and emerging non-vesicular extracellular nanoparticles (exomeres and supermeres). At the same time, our research interests have increasingly shifted towards translation, with a focus on developing clinically relevant cardiovascular models and optimising the precise delivery of cardiac RNA therapeutics and engineered EVs
We are developing realistic, human-relevant laboratory models, including non-animal models, for ischaemic heart disease, and we work to improve the precision delivery of therapeutics to the heart and its diverse cell types, with a particular interest in microvascular endothelial cells. We collaborate with clinical academics, chemical engineers and bioengineers to optimise the formulation and delivery of EVs and lipid nanoparticles (LNPs).
We participate in local, national and international research collaborations and would welcome new partnerships with academic and industry teams.
We would welcome philanthropic support in the form of PhD studentship bursaries and support for our wider research and researchers
