BIO
I am a Principal Investigator and a former Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at Imperial College London, working on arsenic and nitrogen dynamics in soil microbes, their molecular expressions with root phenology, and their effects on crop plants with subsequent qualitative and quantitative assessment. I study arsenic-resistant microbes with a focus on plant-microbial interactions for sustainable management. Microbial diversity analysis by Metagenomics, high-throughput sequencing and gene expression studies are frequent.
I am an EMBO and FEMS Visiting Scientist at Eawag-Switzerland and ZALF-Germany. I mentor both Master's and PhD students.
Before joining Imperial, I was a Principal Investigator and a National Postdoctoral Fellow, awarded by the Ministry of Education—Government of India.
I have several lead-author research articles published in peer-reviewed journals like Advanced Science, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Science of the Total Environment, Chemosphere, Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety, Journal of Environmental Management, Geoderma and several co-authored papers in many more reputed journals. I also have several book chapters published as lead author under Springer, Elsevier, Nova Publishers and one book as a sole author by Eliva Press.
I am an Associate Editor of Frontiers in Microbiology (Terrestrial Microbiology Section) and Frontiers in Plant Science (Plant Abiotic Stress Section) and a guest editor in multiple Frontiers, Wiley and MDPI journals and an active Reviewer in more than 70 peer-reviewed journals under nature Publishing Group, Springer-Nature, Elsevier, Frontiers, BMC, MDPI, Taylor & Francis, and Wiley. I am a life member of an international science community (International Society for Environmental Botanists and Indian Science Congress) and a regular member of several other science bodies (American Geophysical Union, European Association of Geochemistry, European Geophysical Union, Microbiology Society, Royal Society of Biology, and Royal Society of Chemistry). I have presented my research at numerous international and several national conferences and have received grants. I am also involved in 12 international and national collaborations for scientific advancements.
